Jose Enrique flattered by interest, Evra to sign new contract with United
Jose Enrique admits Europe ambition
Jose Enrique, the Newcastle United defender, revealed he was flattered by the interest shown in him by other Premier League sides such as Liverpool, Manchester United and Aston Villa. The 25 year-old-left back has been in terrific form for the Magpies, undoubtedly their most consistent player this season. It is no wonder the Spaniard has caught the eye of some of the Premier League sides.
Manchester United, Liverpool and Aston Villa are all known to be tracking the left back and it is expected they are preparing to make a bid during the summer transfer window. All three sides are looking to strengthen their back four and the Spaniard would make the perfect addition to any side. If anyone, the Spaniard is second only to Chelsea’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ashley-Cole-c6809, who is currently the best left back in the English Premier League.
Enrique claimed he was happy at St James Park, but admitted he would want to play in Europe. He said while speaking to reporters, “It is flattering that http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809 are interested. I’ve also heard that Manchester United and Aston Villa have asked about me. They are both big teams and I’m not closing the door on anyone. I’m ambitious and want to play in the Champions League. I want to win things. I’m OK at Newcastle but I aspire to more.”
Patrica Evra on the verge of new contract
Patrice Evra, the Manchester United left back, who has been heavily linked with a move to La Liga giants Real Madrid, is reportedly on the verge of signing a new contract with Manchester United in the coming days. Sir Alex Ferguson is determined not to let the Frenchman leave Old Trafford and sources reveal the United boss was successful in convincing Evra to stay.
Evra arrived at Old Trafford from Monaco for a fee of £5.5 million in 2006 and since then has been one of the Reds' most consistent players. His contract expires next season and according to reports, if signed, his new contract will keep him with the Premier League side until the 2014 season. The new deal will increase his £70,000-a-week wages to £90,000-a-week.
If an agreement is not reached with the Frenchman, Sir Alex Ferguson has already lined up possible replacements for the left back position. So far http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011. The next few days will be essential in determining the 30 year old's future.
