Liverpool defender, Jose Enrique let out his ambition of winning more titles with the Reds this coming season, and backed Brendan Rodgers' aim of introducing a Spain-like playing style at Anfield.
The Spanish International claimed the Carling Cup laurel with Liverpool in February, which ended the club’s six year title drought.
He also won the runners-up medal with the Reds in the FA Cup, after they suffered a 2-1 defeat at the hands of http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 in the final.
Besides this, the 26-year old was also a part of Newcastle United’s League Championship winning team in 2010. He signed a long term contract with the Anfield outfit in August, 2011.
Having placed his hands on a winning trophy, the defender revealed his hunger of securing more silverware in the following term, but admitted that his prime focus was on helping his side reclaim their place in Champions League football.
He told the reporters in an interview, “Last year I won a title (Carling Cup) and it was amazing with the fans here, I enjoyed it a lot. This season I hope we can win something again and try to play for the Champions League.”
Enrique has so far capped 43 appearances for http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Liverpool-c39809, but is yet to score his first goal for the club.
With the Reds dismal league campaign last season resulting in Kenny Dalglish’s ouster from the management and the arrival of Rodgers as his replacement, much has been said about the Northern Irishman’s brand of fluent passing football, and the impact that
he is likely to make at Anfield.
Having seen Swansea City’s eye catching playing style under Rodgers’ management, the Spaniard heaped praise on the Irishman for introducing a http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011-like playing style in the Premier League, and felt that the Swans were a breath of fresh air last term.
“For me it is the best way to play football, like Spain did, that's why they are the best at the moment… I'm really impressed [with Rodgers]. I know how he likes to play because we played against Swansea last year and I've seen them many times.”
