Jose Mourinho: ‘I prefer to win on Sunday than to receive the Ballon d'Or’
Real Madrid coach Jose Mourinho has hit out at FIFA, before the announcement of the FIFA Ballon d’Or and FIFA Coach of the Year winners.
The self proclaimed ‘Special One’ exclaimed on the rumours that Spain’s national team manager http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/South-Africa-c757.
Jose said, “I have my share of achievements. 11 months of work, 57 matches and 3 titles, one of which is the most important one, the Champions League, the "tournament". I have won everything and cannot do any more. The same
thing goes for the players.”
Mourinho was undoubtedly the best manager in 2010 when he guided his former team FC Internazionale to a treble winning season. He won the Italian Serie A, the Italian Cup and the UEFA Champions League, a feat that is seldom achieved
by a manager in a single season.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 FC boss also commented on the 3-man list that has been nominated for the Ballon d’Or award.
He felt surprised as to how http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Wesley-Sneijder-c36799 did not make it to the last 3, for the award. Mourinho also felt baffled at Sneijder’s omission from the contenders list in favour of Barcelona’s Andres Iniesta.
Wesley was pivotal in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan’s rise to domestic and continental glory this year, and also helped his side in reaching the World Cup final. The Dutchman was also the joint top scorer in the competition with 5 goals.
He said, “Sneijder. If Iniesta wins after being injured for the first five months of 2010 with six matches and one goal in South Africa, it means that in World Cup years, the rest does not count at all.”
The master tactician also claimed that the UEFA Champions League was better than the World Cup because the teams involved in the Champions League had greater technical abilities.
He added, “I could understand the competition if there had been an even number of titles, but if there is one player who has won everything. What can I say? I prefer to win on Sunday than to receive the Ballon d'Or.”
The Portuguese also expressed his desire to coach his national team someday.
However, for now, he remains focused on his job at Real Madrid. The Whites have not won the La Liga title for 3 years and the fans believe Mourinho is the man to guide the expensively assembled Madrid line-up to domestic and European
glory.
