Jose Mourinho: Tottenham Hotspur are a dangerous side – UEFA Champions League news
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has praised Tottenham Hotspur for doing well in the UEFA Champions League in the ongoing 2010-11 season.
The former Chelsea manager thinks that the Spurs have done a tremendous job to enter the quarter-final stage in their first ever competition. Tottenham were drawn against Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid in the quarter-final when the draws took place in Nyon
on 18 March, 2011.
Tottenham beat AC Milan 1-0 on aggregate basis to progress to the last eight. On the other hand, Madrid beat Lyon 4-1 on aggregate to book a quarter-final place.
Speaking media, Mourinho said, “It is fantastic for Tottenham. They have a reason to be proud already. But I believe we are the better team and I believe we are going to do it.”
Mourinho believes that his team is favourite to win against the North London side but he feels that it is not impossible for the Spurs to beat the Los Blancos. The Special One is pleased not to be drawn against his former clubs Chelsea and Inter Milan.
He said, “I didn't want Chelsea or Inter, because last season it was difficult for me to play against http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 last season].I did it, I did everything I could to help my team but I was not comfortable because I don't like to play against
my friends. So I didn't want Inter and Chelsea, after that any team is difficult and any team is a motivation for us.”
The Portuguese praised the Tottenham side and said that they are a dangerous team with some quality players and a quality manager like Harry Redknapp. He feels that a team that can beat AC Milan and Inter Milan can certainly be a tough opponent for anybody
and they can even win the competition.
Mourinho went on to criticise the English clubs for a decline in their standards since he left the Chelsea job. He feels that the likes of Manchester United and Chelsea are dropping too many points than they used to two or three years back.
