The Portuguese coach has backed the Real Madrid star, Cristiano Ronaldo, for the Ballon d’Or award and believes that Messi and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ronaldo-c31734 are players of equal calibre.
The comparisons between Cristiano Ronaldo and http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Lionel-Messi-c22296 are always drawn since both the players are prolific goal-scorers and are also playing in the same league.
Recently, in an interview, the Real Madrid coach, Jose Mourinho, stated that last season Ronaldo was a step above Messi and this is because he has helped Los Blancos win an important title.
Messi was simply phenomenal on an individual basis and that is the reason he is currently being backed to win the FIFA Ballon d’Or for the fourth consecutive time.
If Messi is able to win this individual honour for the fourth time in a row, it will be for the first time in the history of the game that a player will win this prestigious honour this many times in succession.
Even though the Argentinean star was phenomenal throughout the last season and was able to score more than 70 goals during the year, Jose Mourinho believes that Ronaldo was the man who helped Real Madrid win the Spanish La Liga and that is the reason why
he should be given the individual honour.
While speaking about Ronaldo and Messi, Mourinho said:
“If they give it to the best, or they give it to Cristiano or Messi, I ask myself that  if they are equals then why has one won four and the other only one? No. The normal thing would be for one to have three and the other two.”
“If http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-c9622 does not win this year’s award then it is because it is not very nice, he doesn’t sell his image well, and does not give interviews in which he apologises for arguing with a teammate on the pitch.”
Lionel Messi and Ronaldo recently came face to face during El Clasico which took place over the weekend.
The match that took place at the Nou Camp saw http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629 open and close the scoring of the fixture as Lionel Messi’s brace was sandwiched between the two goals scored by the Portuguese skipper
The match ended 2-2 and that is why http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Barcelona-c38604 are still leading the league and have an eight-point advantage over Real Madrid.
