Jose Mourinho, the manager of Real Madrid, also known as the special one, expressed his delight over the demolition job his team performed on Levante midweek. Real Madrid won the first leg of Copa Del Rey 8-0 and once again sent out a chilling message to
all in Spain that they mean business this season.
When Mourinho took charge of Madrid initially, they lacked flair to their game play, which resulted in many of the critics bashing Mourinho for using negative tactics and not making full use of the players he had at his disposal. However in the matches after
the first month, Real Madrid have certainly shown that they can go on all out attack when they want to. The big defeat against Barcelona obviously would not go well with these claims, but that may be considered as a one off in the bigger scheme of things.
The same killer instinct that Mourinho had been talking about was on display when his team triumphed by 8 goals to nil against Levante.
The man who had been only shadow of himself last season, Karim Benzima, looked back in his elements and got a hat-trick. The most expensive footballer in the world, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Cristiano-Ronaldo-c9629, also got 3 to his name. Mesut Ozil and Perdro Leon also got their names
on the score sheet to complete the rout.
Jose Mourinho is not someone who easily shows emotion and is a man who keeps to himself most of the time. At times he is also unpredictable, his team can come up with a big win and he may not show any emotion at all. While on the other hand a hard worked
goal may get him out of his seat jumping in joy. The Portuguese, though, was not holding back his delight after the big win against Levante.
"We thrilled the crowd, but it also thrilled us," Mourinho said. "It was a beautiful and fun game, especially for the younger crowd at the stadium.
"I'm sorry for Levante's professionals because it is always harsh to lose this way, but I'm happy with the way we ended the year. We've won 20 of our 25 official games, drawn 4 and lost only one. My men played a serious game tonight and that's the only way
to earn such a victory."
One performance that really stood out for Mourinho was the hat-trick for the French international, Karim Benzima. He said that Karim is one player who can certainly be one of the biggest stars of his generation. But sadly he has not been able to live up
to his true potential at Madrid. He added that last season was particularly tough on Karim as it was his first in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Spain-c3011 and like some players he took longer to get used to the club and the way the team works. That resulted in a less than impressive season
but more importantly a place in the French World cup squad.
The manager said that from the start of the match he could notice Benzima running deep to support his fellow players. He added that when a player is making that extra effort he is assured to have a good game, and that is exactly what happened with Benzima.
The manager went on to say that scoring goals is always good for confidence of the player, but is not always the barometer to measure the performance. The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 manager said that he does not judge a player just by goals but, in fact, how he executes
the pre match plan and how much effort he makes to be involved in the game.
