Real Madrid triumphed over Segunda Division B minnows Ponferradina with ease, scoring for fun in their Copa del Rey second leg fixture at Santiago Bernabéu.
All summer signings of the Spanish giants gave a mouth watering account of themselves, as the Capital club coasted past their rivals.
Jose Callejon, Nuri Sahin and Raphael Varane got on the score-sheet for Los Blancos in the cup tie. In addition to the summer purchases, Castilla forward Joselu also scored for the reigning Copa del Rey winners.
Young Callejon was the pick of Los Blancos players, as the 24-year old scored a well timed brace. The striker took his goal scoring tally of the season to 9, boasting an envious goals-to-minutes average.
Real Madrid manager, Jose Mourinho, was happy with the performance of his players, especially Callejon. In the post match conference, the Special One highlighted the striker’s performance on the night and voiced his opinions about him.
Mourinho stated that he liked the cantera product’s style of play who has adjusted quickly to life at Santiago Bernabéu. He commented that Callejon has a strong personality, which has been groomed well at his former club, RCD Espanyol.
"I like the player and his style of play but you never know the time to adapt and how to react. He has a strong personality and Espanyol coach who worked with has done very well," Mourinho said.
