The Portuguese mentor is hopeful of things to be different this time as Los Blancos are in contention to qualify for the final of the Champions League.
Real Madrid’s head coach, Jose Mourinho, has expressed that his luck has rarely favoured him in crucial semi-final clashes particularly in Europe. The veteran manager conceded that he feels to be a victim of misfortune whenever his side is eliminated after
having made it to the last four of the prestigious tournament.
The former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan coach was of the opinion that his players are well prepared to face Bayern on home soil and was quite optimistic ahead of the encounter.
Los Blancos are set to take up the challenge of German Bundesliga giants, Bayern Munich, in the second leg of the UEFA Champions League semi-final on Wednesday. The match which is bound to take place at the Santiago Bernabeu is expected to be intensely competitive.
Having lost the first leg with the score of 2-1, Wednesday’s game is the last chance for Los Vikingos to book a place in the final of the coveted competition.
Jose Mourinho is counted amongst one of the finest managers of all time. The ‘Special One’ is the third manager in the history of football to have won the European title with two different teams.
As he attempts to do it for the third time with a new club, the 49-year-old is anxious regarding his luck on Wednesday.
Mourinho looked back at the times when a team under his management was knocked out of the Champions League.
While talking to reporters, the former Porto manager was quoted as saying:
"Overall I have not been lucky in semi-finals of the Champions League. I lost one with http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 (2005) due to a goal that wasn't a goal, the ball didn't cross the line. Another season (2007) we lost on penalties and when you lose a semi-final on penalties
it is due to bad luck and I lost the semi-final last season because of what everyone knows."
As Bayern Munich travel to the Spanish capital, the atmosphere at the Santiago Bernabeu is expected to be mind-blowing. Which side will emerge victorious among the two European giants? We can only wait and find out.
