The Portuguese mentor has expressed that despite the negative attention given to him by the media, he considers himself a great coach.
Mourinho has stated that his achievements for the several clubs he has managed over time speak for themselves and he can always look back and be proud of his accolades whenever he decides to retire.
The 49-year-old insisted that he does not want to sound arrogant, but maintained that he counts himself among the best managers of all time.
The Real Madrid head coach was first recognized when he led http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/FC-Porto-c39186 to an amazing UEFA Champions League triumph in 2004. Along with winning the Portuguese Primera Liga, the mentor successfully completed the European double with a side which were considered
underdogs all over Europe.
Mourinho then moved to English Premier League outfit, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786, where his mission was to lead the London side to silverware. It was at the English club where he was given the nickname of the ‘Special One’ which was interestingly tipped by the mentor himself.
Just as he promised, he was successful in winning the English Premier League title with Chelsea. It was the club’s first Premier League triumph in around 50 years.
However, despite being successful with the London-based club, Mourinho parted ways with them after a spell of 3 and a half years. According to reports, the reason for his departure from the Blues was a rift with the club’s owner, Roman Abramovich.
The Special One then went on to coach Italian Serie A giants, http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 Milan, where he flourished once again. He lead the Nerazzurri to three league titles and a European trophy in 2010.
Consequently, after having made his mark on the sport, the influential manager moved to Santiago Bernabeu.
While discussing his career with Audi Magazine, the 49-year-old said:
"Talking about yourself is not easy because you always run the risk that people think you're conceited. But on account of what I have achieved, I do consider myself, in a very pragmatic way, to be a great coach. I will finish at the top at about 65 or 70,
and just hope to be proud of my career.”
At the moment, Jose Mourinho is preparing his current side Real Madrid to play against the German giants, Bayern Munich, in the UEFA Champions League semi-final.
