The Real Madrid manager is now being linked to the hot seat at Old Trafford, after Sir http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Alex-c4752 Ferguson announced his retirement from the game today.
One of the finest chapters in the history books of Manchester United Football Club saw an end as Sir Alex Ferguson announced his retirement from the English club after serving them for 26 long years.
The Scot goes down in to the history of the game as probably the greatest manager ever with 38 team accolades to his name.
Ferguson took over the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 at Manchester United from Aberdeen after former Red’s manager; Ron Atkinson was forced to leave the Manchester side following a string of poor results on the pitch.
The Scot was slow to adjust to the trade in http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/England-c749 as his first three years did not yield any success. Soon rumours suggested that Ferguson may well also be shown the exit doors as fans got united against the strategies of the young manager.
But an FA Cup triumph that season, under the management of Alex Ferguson, led United on course to the glowing share of medals they will win in the span of the next 22 years or so.
After regaining their lost Premier League crown from Manchester City this season, Ferguson thinks that the stage is set for him to step down and Manchester United’s board officially recognised the truth in the rumours, stating that the long serving manager
will depart the managerial roles after the end of the season.
In a statement on United’s official website, Ferguson said: “The decision to retire is one that I have thought a great deal about and one that I have not taken lightly. It is the right time.”

“It was important to me to leave an organization in the strongest possible shape and I believe I have done so. The quality of this league winning squad, and the balance of ages within it, bodes well for continued success at the highest level whilst the structure
of the youth setup will ensure that the long-term future of the club remains a bright one.”
A number of candidates have been linked to the vacant seat at Old Trafford now, and Jose Mourinho may well be the one who looks the favourite.
Sir Alex Ferguson has also been an admirer of the capabilities of the Portuguese manager and he may well be suited to take over the reins from the retiring Scot.
