The current Real Madrid tactician was offered the England job back in 2007 to replace Steve McClaren and was very close to taking the http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Job-c18684 before thinking otherwise.

However, the Special One rejected the job of managing the Three Lions as he looked at the bigger picture it presented.
Mourinho admitted that he was about to take the role but thought otherwise, as it promised very little action. The Portuguese hit out against the schedule of national teams and stated that it is not in his nature to wait and sit as the world continues to
revolve on its axis.
The two time UEFA Champions League winner stated that it is not in his nature to wait for a meaningful competition for a couple of years.
Mourinho added that the agony is multiplied when it is taken into account that there is not a with the players, and the wait for the next fixture is too long for his taste.
"I was on the verge of coaching the English national team in 2007. I thought about it carefully and I said 'no' because I knew that within two months I would be unhappy.”
"National team coaching is not a life for me right now, with a game once a month, waiting two years for a serious competition."
