Jose Mourinho says Real Madrid is in transition
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho, who took charge of the Spanish giants in the summers, insisted that there is no need to get carried away following the 6-1 destruction of Deportivo La Coruna.
Madrid’s season has not gone exactly according to plan. Although they have won 5 out of their 7 La liga and Champions’ League matches and are unbeaten this season, but there are still some words of criticism from different corners
due to their poor goal return. Madrid had only scored 9 goals from 7 games before the big win over the weekend.
The former champions finally got their act together, and the multi million pound lineup showed what they are capable of. The All Whites doubled their goal tally in just one match at home in a rain drenched night as the home crowd
gave the team a well deserved standing ovation when they left the pitch.
Looking back to last week’s performance it was a contrasting reception by the home faithful, against Osasuna; at home the home fans jeered their team following a disappointing performance in the first half. But the all out attack
against Deportivo certainly proved that they can step it up when needed.
However the Special one (Mourinho) refused to get carried away, and took all the praise in his stride as he had done when wide criticism was handed to his team. He said that his team’s performance had been consistent and the result
against Ajax in Champions League was also as good as this one.
Jose Mourinho took over Real Madrid in the summer soon after he had led Inter Milan to an unprecedented treble. He won the domestic Seria-A, Copa Italia and to cap it all off he won the UEFA Champions’ League final at the home
of Madrid beating Bayern Munich in the final. There was no doubt that the job at Madrid came with certain amount of baggage. Number of big names have come and gone without much success. At time the managers have been sacked even after winning the title. Current
England manager Fabio Capello was a prime example, he led the team to their last Spanish La liga title but was let go at the end of the season, so Mourinho knew what he was getting himself into.
Jose has always been a man full of confidence, and showed his displeasure over the doubts casted by his critics. He added that for a man who has achieved so much there should be no such speculations.
Jose went on to say: "The doubts people have motivate me and make me laugh. I don't understand why there are doubts about a coach who has won what I've won.
"I haven't won three Champions League and seven championships - I've won two Champions Leagues and six championships. Is that sufficient to coach here? If so, I'll continue working with calmness”.
Once again commenting on the performance of his team, Jose said that one match does not make or break a team. He added that performance over a period of time is what defines a team, and fans as well as media should give the team
proper time to show what they can and not jump the gun after a good or a poor performance.
Real Madrid is currently in 3rd place in the league, and are on 14 points as the Spanish league heads into a 2 week international break. Valencia continues to lead the table 2 points ahead of Real Madrid while Barcelona
are one point adrift of Real.
