Jose Mourinho slams Fabio Capello
Real Madrid boss has slated Fabio Capello, saying that England will nothing while the Italian is the national team coach.
Capello has come under heavy criticism in many quarters, particularly the English media, for the country’s dismal performance at the 2010 FIFA World Cup. England crashed out at the round of 16 stage when they lost 4-1 to Germany after scraping through their group with one win, two draws and just two goals scored.
The manager refused to deviate from his rigid 4-4-2 formation and faced dissension with the ranks as former captain John Terry went public with claims of the team being dissatisfied with life within the camp. Despite a dismal campaign in South Africa, the Football Association confirmed that Capello would continue as the national team coach for the UEFA 2012 European Football Championship qualifying campaign.
Ahead of his first competitive match in charge of Real Madrid — a club Capello led to the La Liga title in both of his single-season spells in charge — this weekend, Mourinho slammed Capello in an interview with the Daily Mirror.
'England's problem is their manager'
Mourinho criticised Capello’s relationship with his players, saying that: "The problem is the manager. Capello will not work for England. He has a one-track relationship with players. Ask anyone here at Real Madrid. He can't change. You cannot go around just shouting at players. They need to feel special. It is clear. Capello will not work for England. He does not know the players. They are frightened of him and they can't play for him."
The Portuguese added that Capello was not always clear with his tactical instructions, saying that: "For me, it is a mess for England. Players need clear tactics. They cannot be confused about what they have to do. It is the manager’s fault. And it is a big shame."
