Jose Mourinho speaks out at unfair treatment
Jose Mourinho revealed he was not pleased with some of the refereeing decisions in the clash against Real Zaragoza, which ended 3-1 to Madrid.
Mesut Ozil, Ronaldo and Angel Di Maria contributed to the goals before the home side converted a penalty to score a consolation goal towards the end of the match.
Mourinho saw Xabi Alonso and Marcelo pick up bookings, which will rule out the pair in the important fixture against Sevilla next week.
Mourinho has already served two touchline bans this season. The Portuguese coach spoke out on the special treatment by the officials after the match against Zaragoza. He stated:
“I'm not upset with the protest by Marcelo (booked for dissent). There are players who can protest and others who can't. There are coaches who can leave the technical area and others who can’t; there are coaches who can simulate aggressions and others who can't…”.
The “Special One” insisted he wanted the same treatment as everyone else and that he did not like his players picking up unnecessary bookings,“I'm bothered that there is one rule for Mourinho and another for the rest. And it's the same with the players. It's very easy to hand out yellow cards to Real Madrid players and more difficult to hand them out to others in the same circumstances. This is football and now we need to respond (against Sevilla)”.
Mourinho is already handling a much depleted squad. He was without Gonzalo Higuain, Sergio Ramos, Khedira, Kaka, Sergio Canales, Fernando Gago and Jerzy Dudek on Sunday but still managed a terrific performance.
However, Mourinho will now have to do without Marcelo and Alonso against Sevilla, which may prove to be a tougher test than the lowly Zaragoza. Mourinho can take comfort in the fact that the match will be held at the Bernabeu and Kaka may very well be returning in January.
Mourinho alleged, “We have several injured players and these two are now suspended. Khedira will return. This is something normal to deal with at the end of the year. People might think that we could drop points due to having so many players out, but we'll see. We'll put 11 players on the pitch and they'll have the support of the fans. We want to go into the Christmas holidays with a win. We must go into the two games we have left with all the strength that we have”.
