Jose Mourinho trusts in Karim Benzema but still wants to sign new players
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has explained his previously voiced intentions about signing a new forward at Santiago Bernabeu as a step towards increasing the pool of talent in the team.
In his most recent press release, the Los Blancos manager stated that he wanted to add depth to the squad, so that the players could cope up with injuries and slump in performances from time to time.
The main striker of the side, Argentine Gonzalo Higuain is deemed to be out for the remaining season. He has been replaced by the French prodigy http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 but the player has been unable to come up with consistent performances.
Benzema has produced lustrous performances in some matches, but on the other hand, has missed on absolute sitters as well. This has made the Portuguese manager doubt the ability of Benzema to perform on a bigger scale.
Earlier, the self-proclaimed “Special One” had declared that Real Madrid’s President Florentino Perez did not hand him cash to spend in the winter transfer window. He then stated that he would be heading forward in the La Liga and Champions League with the same old squad.
Now, although Mourinho has stated that he might be spending on buying new players, he has made it clear - it will not be because of Benzema. This reflects that Mourinho still has faith in the abilities of the young French international.
Mourinho explained his stance on bringing fresh blood into Bernabeu by saying that Benzema had indeed proven himself to be an asset to the squad and his performances on the field were highly valued. However, he was quick to add that he needed more men in the team so that he could have a wider variety of substitutions and a greater tactical advantage.
Mourinho stated on the issue, “The search for a new striker for the team is not because of Benzema. I am on the bench with many other players of many different positions, but no poacher. So I would have to welcome the acquisition of another forward.”
He continued, “If we fail to bring in the relevant players, then we will have to continue to play as we are at this time," the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 boss concluded.”
Real Madrid will continue to face the dilemma of lacking depth in the side, until the world class hitman Gonzalo Higuain recovers from his back surgery. It is expected that the General Director of Real Madrid http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Jorge-c19120 Valdano may eventually hand Mourinho some cash so that the underperforming team can make a comeback and win the La Liga title along with a respectable finish in Champions League.
