Jose Mourinho urges fans to roar Real Madrid to victory
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho has urged his club’s fans to roar the side on to victory when they face minnows Murcia in the Copa del Rey on Wednesday, 10 November.
Murcia enjoyed one of the best results in their history when they were able to fend off the likes of Cristiano Ronaldo, Gonzalo Higuain, Karim Benzema and Angel di Maria to earn a 0-0 draw in the first leg of the tie at the Estadio Nueva Condomina on 26 October.
With Madrid undefeated in all competitions so far this season, Mourinho has called on the Madrid faithful to create a ‘warm reception’ for the visit of Murcia to the Bernabeu.
He told reporters at a press conference on Tuesday, "I know it is hard, but I’d like a warm reception from the Bernabeu. I know that it is a cultural issue, but I’d like to see a warmer atmosphere.
"For me, tomorrow is the biggest game of the season so far, which may seem contradictory when the rival you face is from a division below, but this is a game which, after a draw in the first leg, a bad result cannot be deleted. So, this
is the most crucial match."
Though Mourinho is expected to leave out several of his key players for the contest, he will expect nothing less than a victory to maintain a strong start to the season.
Los Blancos are currently at the summit of the La Liga table after winning eight and drawing two of their 10 games so far.
They have also qualified for the knockout stages of the UEFA Champions League with two games to spare after beating AC Milan, Ajax and Auxerre and picking up a point against Milan at the San Siro.
