Jose Mourinho wants Steven Gerrard at Real Madrid: Will he leave Liverpool
Real Madrid boss Jose Mourinho hasn’t kept his eagerness in wanting to sign Liverpool captain Steven Gerrard a secret from anyone, in fact openly spoke about how he admires the midfielder’s attitude on the pitch and likes the way he delivers - Will ‘The Special One’ be able to lure him to the Bernabeu?
The Liverpool fans seem to think that Gerrard will reject Mourinho for a fourth time after the departure of Rafa Benitez from Anfield.
The Portuguese tactician has come close to landing the midfielder three times in his Chelsea reign.
In 2004 he was close, but Gerrard was persuaded to stay at Anfield when Benitez flew to England’s Lisbon training camp at the European Championship to outline his vision for the future.
Twelve months later, Liverpool won the UEFA Champions League.
It is every players dream and ambition to play at the highest level of football and to win trophies.
Liverpool hasn’t won a trophy since 2006, and chances of them winning any in the future look more and more unlikely.
The club in my opinion is no longer one of the top four in the premier league, and finishing seventh this season means no UEFA Champions League to look forward to.
Real Madrid can offer Gerrard a shot in lifting the title once again with a more realistic chance as he will be part of a much stronger team.
Fernando Torres’s future at the club also looks to be coming to an end with interest from Manchester City and Chelsea.
If Torres does decide to leave, I can see Gerrard’s move looking more possible to take place. Gerrard has said that he will decide his future after the FIFA World Cup.
