Jose Mourinho welcomes the prospect of signing Ruud Van Nistelrooy
Real Madrid manager Jose Mourinho will be happy to bring http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Ruud-van-Nistelrooy-c31966 back to Santiago Bernabeu.
With their first choice striker, Gonzalo Higuain injured for the remaining season, Madrid director http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Karim-Benzema-c20350 is the only recognised centre forward left
in the Madrid side and they need to bring in a cover for the injured Higuain.
Many strikers have been linked with a move to Madrid and Van Nistelrooy happens to be a likely candidate. The Dutchman is one of the best poachers of his era and played for Real for four seasons. The striker helped Real secure
La Liga title wins in 2007 and 2008, before moving to Hamburg last year.
When asked whether Mourinho would be interested in bringing back the 34-year-old or not, the manager stated that they are yet to make a decision as it is very difficult to pick one from the pool of players.
"If in the end it is Ruud then I would be very happy. We know each other from English football, in my first seasons (at http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786), I know the player and the person well. I would be delighted if it is him," stated the Real boss.
The manager, however, added that he is currently a very important player for Hamburg and they would need to respect their decision on the matter as well. Real have been doing decently since Higuain’s departure, as they have not
lost a single match apart from the 5-0 mauling at the hands of Barcelona. Although the side managed a 3-1 win over rivals Atletico Madrid in the Copa del Rey quarterfinal, which was played on 13 January, Valdano publically announced that the side was indeed
in the market for a striker.
The manager stated that a new striker will be beneficial for the club since they have just one left and still have a lot of games to play. Valdano did not confirm as to who he was interested in, but was happy to see the club’s
direction to allow such a move.
