Jose Mourinho will not return, says Inter Milan President Massimo Moratti - Serie A Update
Inter Milan President, Massimo Moratti, has mooted reports linking Jose Mourinho to a sensational return to the club.
“It's undoubtedly a moment of crisis owed to physical and mental tiredness. We weren't at our best when we had to be. The question of Leonardo's future hasn't changed a lot. He was making a fantastic effort until the game against Milan. We expected the maximum
then. Instead perhaps the biggest mistake was sending the players on International duty. We were convinced that we were still in great form. Instead we were very tired,” said Inter Milan’s president.
When asked about the Mourinho rumours, Moratti chose his words carefully. The 66-year-old insisted that Leonardo is doing a good job for him, though, he admitted that the future cannot be predicted. The owner refused to pay any further heed to rumours regarding
Mourinho’s return.
Jose Mourinho left Inter Milan after winning the treble; Scudetto, UEFA Champions League and Coppa Italia. The Nerazzurri have found it hard to assert their authority on the domestic and European fronts ever since. With AC Milan going strong on the domestic
front, UEFA Champions League was the only hope of major silverware.
However, the Nerazzurri crashed out of the competition in humiliating fashion. In the first leg of the quarter-final against Schalke, they lost 5-2 at the San Siro. The second leg was little better as the Germans conquered the reigning champions yet again
at Gelsenkirchen with the score board reading 2-1. Leonardo’s http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Inter-c39567 have failed to recover from the humiliation as they lost to Parma in their latest league encounter – a defeat that has all but ended their Scudetto dreams.
While Leonardo’s Inter Milan is a big improvement over Rafa Benitez’s Nerazzurri, the Brazilian’s attacking brand of football has not found consistency in terms of winning games. Jose Mourinho’s name, owing much to his heroics with the club, will keep cropping
up but the former http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Chelsea-c38786 man is highly unlikely to make a return to San Siro.
