Jose Pereira overcomes Ricardo Siggia 6-3, 6-2
Ranked 362nd in the South African ATP World Tour Rankings, Jose Pereira, successfully journeyed across the initial qualifying round of the Peugeot Tennis Cup held at the clay courts of Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He won
the better half of his Brazilian compatriot, Ricardo Siggia.  He jolted down his straight sets win at 6-3, 6-2 on Saturday.
The higher ranked Pereira, began the set displaying his superior run of form but faced slight difficulty in the initial part of the opener when the score line levelled down to 2-all. Pereira secured the lead when he broke his challengers
serve in the sixth game and stamped a 4-2 lead. This completely shattered Siggia’s hopes to win and he bestowed the set with a 6-3 score.
In the second set, the two contenders kept playing competitive tennis against one another and the set witnessed a series of serve breaks. The 23-year-old had a comparatively better initial serve precision of 73 percent but secured
just nine of 19 first and two of seven second delivery points. Pereira secured 86 percent initial serve accuracy with 12 of 18 first. He capitalized on the lead by securing all three serve breaks. 
Carlos Gomez-Herrera trounces Alessandro Motti 7-6(2), 6-2
Right-hander, Carlos Gomez-Herrera, battled into the second qualifying round after defeating his Italian contender, Alessandro Motti. He consolidated his straight sets 7-6(2), 6-2 win in one hour and 32 minutes.
The world number 444, Herrera, displayed his a classic performance in the start of the initial set by attained 55 percent initial serve accuracy. He attained 18 of 21 first and 12 of 17 second delivery points. The Italian senior
took the lead smartly levelled down the score line to 6-all and Herrera consolidated a 7-6(2) after a tiebreak round. Motti had 49 percent initial serve with 20 of 27 points.
In the second set, the 33-year-old, Motti was unable to respond and the Spanish junior stamped his 4-0 lead by securing the first four games without facing any hindrance. Herrera took a flying start and nudged forward to stamp
a 6-2 win.
The left-hander Italian contender thundered his rival with an improved first serve of 50 percent but attained five of 10 first and six of 10 second delivery points. The 22-year-old Spanish secured all nine of the first serve points
and pocketed away two of three serve breaks.
