Jose Reyes vs Derek Jeter?

Question

last year when the mets were choking, everyone was getting on reyes for not hustling, being immature, and whatnot.

i know comparing the two is like apples and oranges, but lets see.

Jose Reyes- .302 Avg,12 HRs, 49 RBIs, 35 Steals, 135 hits.

Derek Jeter- .284 Avg, 6 HRs, 48 RBIs, 6 Steals, 114 hits.

being a red sox fan, i would really want the mets to trade reyes for that distraction of a monkey named manny.

Two different players.

Jeter hits for average and on base percentage while Reyes tries to swing for the fences and is a threatening base stealer. Obviously Reyes hasn't hit as many home runs as he hoped and soon should attempt to control the ball with placement like Jeter instead of barreling at it.

Defensively, Jeter is one of the greatest to ever play the position. Reyes has the potential to be great, but we cannot compare the stature of Jeter to the young Reyes. Jeter is also the captain of the Yankees and is known for his outsanding character.

We're trying to compare a definite Hall of Famer and a young SS that will most likely be a HOF. Two different players.

reyes for sure jeter has the worst range in the major league at short. reyes is younger better faster and if he still produces those kind of numbers who cares if he is immature. but in postseason play i would take jeter 100% of the way. oh and by the way manny ramirez is the most pure hitter in the red sox organization and a future 1st round hall of famer. Best hitter in baseball no questions asked and the sweetest swing. how can you not want manny on your team?!?!

Reyes is a lot younger than Jeter & he may be past his best days but until Reyes gets a ring or 4, I can't compare the 2.  Reyes is doing better this year but both are retired from baseball, compare their stats then & we'll find out Jeter was the overall better than Reyes.  Reyes will never be a Red Sox, so dream on

Well, the Yankees aren't choking they just aren't as great as everyone expects the Yankees to always be. Deter is old too, Reyes is A LOT younger. Yeah it's very much apples and oranges. Maybe when Reyes gets clutch hits in the playoffs like Jeter then they can be compared. I don't even like Jeter but no comparison.

Reyes is better now because Jeter is out of his prime.

Jeter is passed his prime so i would say Reyes. But if its Jeter (prime) vs. Reyes, then its Jeter hands down

Reyes is not going anywhere, but Many may be a Marlin by tomorrow morning. For this season, Reyes over Jeter, but I still want the Yankee in the last of the ninth with two outs and the bases juiced in the seventh game of the World Series & needing two runs to win it all.
