http://www.senore.com/Football-soccer/Joseba-Llorente-c19475 has stated that Real Sociedad’s Copa Del Rey first leg victory against Granada was morale boosting after returning from long term injury.
Llorente was happy with his performance on Tuesday against Granada and stated that he feels much better. The striker has failed to feature in Philippe Montanier's plans since returning from a serious ligament injury.
The 32-year old had a good outing and was unfortunate not to score a goal on the night.
After the match, Llorente stated that he would have been happy with a goal, but the win was more important.
"A goal is what gives you more joy and what people see, but I've said more than once that, apart from the goals, I think a striker has to be done work. And I am happy to play a complete game and win the tie," he said.
The former Villarreal striker said that the match raised his morale as he has not completed a competitive fixture in some time. Llorente returned to first team action after being ruled out for eight months.
"To me the game on Tuesday raised the moral I packed up because I needed to play 90 minutes and finish pressing. We won 4-1 and I was all I could,” he commented.
Llorente was injured in January and the recovery process has been slower than what he had expected. He stated that it has been a tough year for him and added that he wants to return a new man.
Continuing on the topic, he hoped for the worst of times to be behind him and added that he wants to continue in peace for the next three to five years.
With the January transfer window fast approaching, it has been rumoured that Montanier wants to get rid of him. However, Llorente rejected such notions stating that he still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract and he plans on seeing it out.
The experienced striker praised the Anoeta faithful, who continued to chant his name for the duration of the match. He thanked the fans for their support, revealing the strength it instilled in him.
