Josef Benetseder wins the ninth stage of the Crocodile Trophy 2012, Ivan Rybarik bags an overall victory
Josef Benetseder wins the final stage of the Crocodile Trophy Elite men category after his storming performance during the 140 kilometre pursuit to Cooktown.
He took a total time of 4 hours, 48 minutes and 45 seconds and occupied the top podium position, with the Belgian cyclist, Mike Mulkens finishing 2 minutes and 36 seconds behind at the second position.
Luke Haines, Paul Mashford and Ritchie Motke occupied the third, fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
"Last year I got second three times, so I came back to win a stage," Benetseder noted after winning the race.
"It was much harder this year, and those technical mountain bike stages were challenging, but today I knew it was a stage for me".
Czech cyclist, Ivan Rybarik of Team Rubena Rocky Trail Racing was declared an overall winner of the race after his convincing 17 minute and 55 seconds lead over Ondrej Fojtik.
Wolfgang Krenn, Cory Wallace and Ondrej Slezak occupied the third, fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Rybarik rode brilliantly throughout the nine-day race and claimed as many as four stages to his credit.
"I just had such a good time racing the Crocodile Trophy this year,” he noted.
"My business partner Ondrej [Slezak] and his Hana were great and looked after me these past weeks and motivated me each day”.
“We just had such a great time, in our team camp the atmosphere was always positive, we were chatting and talking about biking all the time”.
On the other hand, Kate Major won the Elite Women category of the stage with her convincing 38 minute victory over Tinneke Van de Voorde.
Alice Pirard, Kirsten De Keyser and Annie van der Linde claimed the third, fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
Major rode brilliantly throughout the race and claimed a comfortable overall victory at the Crocodile Trophy 2012.
Alice Pirard secured the second position with a total deficit of 3 hours, 15 minutes and 12 seconds while Tinneke Van de Voorde, Annie van der linde and Jade Forsyth claiming the third fourth and the fifth positions in the respective order.
