Josep Guardiola and Sergio Busquets defend Barcelona's 'Travel Confusions'
The Catalan giants faced ‘confusions’ during their last game against Osasuna as they had to travel to the Spanish side in order to play their next game. With the Spanish airports sealed because of a strike, it was decided that
the team was not going to perform until Sunday, however, the decision was changed by the Spanish Football Federation later on and it was decided that the Spanish Champions will have to play the game on Saturday or they would have to forfeit and lose three
crucial points.
With so much pressure on the team and the management, the situation was resolved and despite the fact that there was little coordination between the airlines and Barcelona’s management, the Catalan Giants still managed to reach
Osasuna, even though they were 50 minutes late.
The match took place and Guardiola’s side won the game 3-0, resulting in their best ever away form with 7 unbeaten matches out of the Nou Camp. The performance totally highlighted how the Catalans were trying their best in order
to win the third Spanish La Liga in a row. It was yet another extraordinary performance by the Barcelona No. 10 Lionel Messi, who managed to score another brace for the Spanish Champions to take his tally to 26 goals this season, equaling the tally of Cristiano
Ronaldo who also managed to score a brace while playing against Valencia, later that night.
The Spanish Coach Josep Guardiola and the Barcelona holding midfielder Sergio Busquets, both came out after the game for a press conference and both, the Coach and the player decided to tell their tale to the world to remove any
confusions that may have existed.
The rumour that was spread was that the Catalans were simply not agreeing to travel in anything other than a plane but Guardiola and Busquets made sure that no such misunderstanding about the team existed and they told the media
that the team’s tardiness was simply a lack of coordination. Guardiola said that the Federation did not keep up to its words. He said that he was informed about the whole situation and it was decided that in case the flights are not ready there are going to
be no games but later under pressure, RFEF decided to change things round as they said that Barcelona will “have to” play their game in order to take the three points.
On the other hand, Sergio Busquets made it clear that he had no problem at all with travelling by train and the whole team was ready to face Osasuna but it was because of the RFEF that they were not going to play until Sunday.
He said that the players were tired but they had a good game and managed to win, which was the most important. He added, by saying that last year the Catalans travelled 14 hours to play a UEFA Champions League game and that there was definitely no problem
travelling inside Spain to play football.
The whole issue was resolved and the Spanish giants actually won the game 3-0 and won the crucial points they wanted. With Barcelona winning the game, they have managed to take their points tally right above their rival club Real
Madrid as now, two points separate the two Spanish giants.
