Josep Guardiola believes there will no “dip in form”

After being a part of the ceremony, Josep Guardiola addressed the press in a conference. The Catalan coach made it clear that such an award ceremony was not going to make the team over confident and there will be no dip in form
from the player’s side. He said that what is important for him is the fact that the team is going to be playing against Real Betis in a Spanish Cup game and they need to win on Wednesday in order to qualify for the next round.
The former coach of the year was delighted about the fact that the Argentinean maestro, Lionel Messi, was given the Player of the Year award. However, after attending the ceremony in Zurich, Josep Guardiola stated, "The way that
the players react will prove that we have accepted it well.”
He said that all the players feel that they are a part of the family, known as Barcelona, and they respect each other and they will definitely not stop competing in order to win more trophies.

When asked, whether he would tip Lionel Messi for the award as well, the reply to the question was quite simple. He stated that all three of them were on equal footings for him. He said that Xavi Hernandez, Andres Iniesta and Lionel
Messi are all on the same level and play top football. However, he then gave a clear explanation as to why Lionel Messi deserved it. He said, "This year a lot of people voted, more than 400, and that means there is nothing to say. Leo came out on top!”
However, he said that Xavi Hernandez and Andres Iniesta both had a fantastic season. He was also happy about the “unrepeatable” Ballon d’Or ceremony, which featured all three Barcelona stars as finalists.
Josep Guardiola also spoke about the best FIFA team of the year. He said that he was happy about the fact that there were six Barcelona players included in it. He said that it simply points towards the fact that they are on the
top at the moment.
Josep Guardiola then took his chances to explain the next game that his side played, earlier today, against Real Betis in the Spanish Cup. The Catalan boss insisted that the first leg is not going to be easy for the team. He said
that they are a top second division team and he can expect anything from them. He also stated the desire to win the cup as he said, “The cup is very special and there will be no exception."
