Guardiola wants the Spanish champions to improve in La Liga as they currently trail Real Madrid by 8 points.

After their win against Sevilla, Barcelona are now 8 points behind their arch-rivals Real Madrid. Los Blancos have been playing phenomenally throughout the season and despite their draw against Malaga, Mourinho’s men have still have the upper hand.
The Catalan coach admitted that Madrid are currently performing better than Barcelona and his side will have to work very hard in order to close the gap on the points table.

While speaking in a press conference, Josep Guardiola stated how it is hard to stay at the top when a competitor like Madrid is in the same league. He said:
"You cannot always be at the top, but the truth is that this is the first time we are below another side. This can happen, also because we are competing against Madrid.”
While talking about Madrid’s form, he said:
"We know we have a very strong rival above us and we are ready to try [to beat them].”
Guardiola then spoke about how his side will have to improve in order to reach the level which Madrid has accomplished. He said:
"We will have to improve, or we will not reach them. We are at a good level, but it is not enough to be first in the table.”
The 41-year-old went on to reject the suggestion of a crisis at the club and stressed he cannot explain the team's sub-par displays on the road this season.
Barcelona still have to face Real Madrid in the league and a win against Los Blancos is crucial since it will take the Catalans giants close to the league leaders in the points table.
Barcelona are currently hoping for a miracle as Real Madrid are proving to be too strong for Josep Guardiola and his men. With an 8-point gap over Barcelona, Real Madrid have almost secured their La Liga title.
