Joseph Agbeko: I am ready for anything Abner Mares brings in the ring – Boxing news
The current International Boxing Federation’s Bantamweight Champion, Joseph Agbeko, who is rated at number three in the bantamweight division by the Ring Magazine, is super confident ahead of his mega showdown with the World Boxing Council’s Silver 118-pound
champion, Abner Mares.
Agbeko, who will defend his title against Abner Mares in the Bantamweight Tournament Final on August 13, 2011 at the Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas, Nevada, has vowed he will win against the 25-year-old Mares.
The 31-year-old Ghanaian warrior, Agbeko, revealed he has not been given with any game plan as of yet but on the same note he claimed he is ready for anything Mares brings with him in the ring.
While speaking on his inclusion, he said, “My coach has not come out with a game plan for me yet, but all I know is I’m ready for everything that Mares is going to bring out. Anything that he’s going to bring up, fighting, boxing, anything that he’s going
to bring up I’m prepared.”
Agbeko was also asked about his official prediction about the bout and he stated he saw himself as the winner at the end of the day with both IBF and WBC diamond championship belts.
He said, “My official prediction is at the end of everything it’s going to be I’m going to be the IBF bantamweight champion and the new WBC diamond champion Joseph King Kong Agbeko. So the night belongs to me.”
Mares will enter the fight as a 2-1 favourite as he holds an unbeaten record of winning 21 of his 22 fights (1 Draw), with 13 of his wins coming by the way of a knockout. Therefore, Agbeko admitted it will be a tough night for him.
Agbeko remarked, “Abner Mares is a tough fighter and I’m a tough fight definitely. So I’m expecting the distance.”
