Joseph Schooling snares Men’s 200 yard butterfly gold – Speedo Winter Junior Nationals
Joseph Schooling of Bolles School Sharks snared gold medal of the Men’s 200 yard butterfly on last day of the 2012 Speedo Winter Junior National Championships at University of Tennessee, Knoxville on Saturday, December 8.
The 17-year-old Schooling devastated expectations of his supporters with his stupendous efforts in the distant butterfly event as he proved his mettle for the title.
With his notable efforts in the eight-lap race, Schooling enjoyed a full body length lead over his rivals and touched the wall for gold medal with an effort of 1 minute and 45.00 seconds.
The gold medallist was followed by Pace Clark of Memphis Tiger Swim Club, who stayed 0.96 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and surfaced on the finishing end for silver medal by posting a time of 1 minute and 45.96 seconds.
The second position holder was followed by James Yoder of Stingrays-GA, who stayed 0.90 seconds apart and surfaced on the finishing blockade for bronze medal by clocking an effort of 1 minute and 46.86 seconds.
Fourth position of the discipline was secured by David Charles of Nashville Aquatics, who stayed 0.02 seconds behind and emerged on the finishing end with the timing of 1 minute and 46.88 seconds.
Charles was traced by Joshua Quallen of Dayton Raiders-O, who was almost one body length behind and cruised his way towards the finishing end for fifth position by touching the wall with an effort of 1 minute and 47.73 seconds.
Sixth position of the race was obtained by Nickolaus Orf of Parkway Swim Club, who suffered a deficit of only 0.02 seconds from his former finisher and touched the wall with the timing of 1 minute and 47.75 seconds.
Orf remained 0.72 seconds ahead of Robert McHugh of Baylor Swim Club, who concluded his swim in seventh place by posting a time of 1 minute and 48.47 seconds.
Eighth position of the race was obtained by Joseph Carbone of Unattached-IA, who was 3.04 seconds slower from his foregoing finisher and posted an effort of 1 minute and 51.51 seconds.
Furthermore, Schooling raked medal for his gruelling form after the race.
