Josesito Lopez: I have prepared extremely well and hard for Victor Ortiz venture – Boxing News
Josesito Lopez, the former NABF light welterweight champion, in a recent media interaction commented that he is ready to take on Victor Ortiz and has prepared extremely well and hard for the bout adding that the quality and talent of Ortiz has increased
his motivation manifold.
Victor and Lopez are scheduled to take on each other in a 12-round bout for the vacant WBC silver welterweight gold. The duo will headline the pay-per-view organised and promoted by Richard Schaefer of Golden Boy Promotions and will be televised live on
Showtime’s weekly Saturday night boxing show.
The event will be co-headlined by the epic clash between Humberto Soto and Lucas Martin Matthysse who will take on each other for the vacant WBC Continental Americas light welterweight title. The event will be broadcasted on June 23, 2012 from the ring set
up at Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Lopez, 27, recently participated in a pre-bout press conference and shared his thoughts about the upcoming encounter with equally talented and experienced opponent Ortiz. The young Californian has been in a total 34 bouts and emerged victorious in 29.
The orthodox brawler has pinned 17 of his opponents by knockout and is coming from a split decision controversial lose to Jessie Vargas. When asked by the media as to what he thinks about his last bout, Lopez, simply stated, “I do think I won that fight
and nine out of 10 people who saw it thought I won. Unfortunately, the judges didn’t’ see it that way, but hey, that’s the way it goes. Our job as fighters is just to bring everything we can and hope for the best and hope that they see it the correct way.”
Josesito will strive hard to nail the World Boxing Organisation’s seventh ranked pugilist in order to move up in the rankings. It is this reason why the bout is being dubbed as a gateway for Lopez to move up in the rankings.
Lopez can only do so by training and sparring hard and if he has undergone strenuous sessions, as he claimed during the media interaction, most probably Josesito will rise at the occasion and will easily grab a win by nullifying Victor’s southpaw stance.
Josesito while sharing his excitement stated, “My only motivation right now is just June 23 and Victor Ortiz. I don’t even think one hour past June 23. That’s the only thing that drives me right now. I don’t care about any other dates or times right now.”
Victor, 25, has also been in a total 34 bouts and boasts 29 wins just like Lopez. Ortiz will try his level best to encounter Lopez’s height advantage by using his left hook effectively. The bout will definitely be a tooth-and-nail one and the duo will give
serious tough time to each other.
