  1. David Stern is so arrogant, he doesn't worry about anything.

  2. No its not a problem!!Until a big name player goes over there its really no big deal.

An NBA bench player can go over get paid and be a star ,then they should go!

  3. yes

    delfino is gone

    garbajosa

    vujacic is next maybe

    childress

    juan carlos navarro left

    delonte west might be leavin

so yes to me it's a problem

  4. They should definantly be worried, especially since guys like Biedrins, Vujacic and West are seriously considering offers from overseas teams. Biedrins is a double-double, Vujacic a roleplayer from the West champs, and Delonte West a former first round pick with plenty of potential.

It's the way the NBA is structured. What do all of these guys have in common? They were drafted a couple years ago in the 04 draft. They all have played through there rookie contracts, but now they're restricted free agents. It's not fair to them, because they don't have the opportunity to find their own contracts...they have no say.

Next year, you'll see guys from the 05 draft go over to Europe. They'll sign deals until they can come back to the NBA and look for their own deal.

Kids from high school are going to start playing in Europe. It's going to be like this until the new CBA, which will probably go more laissez-faire in terms of drafting players...instead of the way it is now, there will be more freedom.

For too long, the NBA has been about protecting those who make them money (Bird, Chamberlain, Jordan, KG, Kobe, etc) and neglecting the roleplayers. It won't be like football where contracts for rookies will be higher than the vets, or baseball, where people are getting 10 years, 250 million, but there will be a medium. Something to prevent the top players in the world from going to Europe where the NBA can't capitalize on them.

And for the record, I don't think the Euro leagues are lesser leagues. There's definantly great players over there and it would be attractive for our pro players to play there. But I think our high school players have been groomed to play in the NBA.

I think it's kind of funny how the NBA spends MILLIONS and MILLIONS of dollars each year, having teams play pre-season games in Europe, making a huge effort to expand their borders, and the Euro leagues do nothing. The only publicity they get in America is from the snippets we see of the guys expected to go in the first round. We see more of our high schoolers than we do Euro games. And yet they seem to be taking some very good players. The power of the Euro, great scenery, and good competition.

The NBA should be scared. Very, very scared.

  5. Nachbar and Childress are not anywhere near franchise players.

But there should be little concern if they throw big $$ at a growing player like Monta Ellis or Chris Bosh.

  6. yea a little because 5 or six players went to europe this season and no one knows who will be going next?

  7. Although Josh is relatively minor talent, the factors that drove his move are structural. Euro economy and currency are getting stronger. Basketball markets and leagues outside the USA are generating more fan interest (and cash). NBA role players are fed up with meager crumbs.

As a business, the NBA should be worried. The salary cap system is premised on an owner's cartel. Although intended to drive more balance between teams, it instead rewards the top 3 stars with 80% of the team's pay. When players have the option to find better deals outside this system, it weakens the cartel.

  8. If more players leave, then yes. But as of now, no since he was not really helping anyone out.

  9. The NBA right now not that much, since to most people he was not that great(even though I think he was a great player)

But I have heard that alot of other good bench player, or just players in general are leaving.

So they can get more money, and be more sucessful over there
