Josh Childress Offer From Greece????

I cant believe this, this is great for him since they are offering him a 3-year contract worth 20 million.

But this really sucks for the Hawks, since he is bascally the only good bench player the Hawks have.

So do yout think the Hawks can STILL make the playoffs even without J-Chill???

Since I really dont see him passing up this offer

  1. This is real corner being turned by the European leagues

they can start offering the lower tier talent for bigger contracts than nba teams want to or be able to throw out there.

they have to focus on J. Smith first, because without him i think it will be harder for them to make the playoffs

  2. I no i would want to go to greece but i reallyy want him to stay! If he leaves there goes another great player! He better stay or i am going to be really mad!!

  3. If letting Childress walk allows them to keep Smith, then they will most likely make the playoffs.  If Childress bolts and they don't sign Smith, then the Hawks are headed back to the lottery.

  4. I think he should stay in the NBA.

Hawks playoff lives depend on Joe Johnson and the return of Josh Smith, and one whole season with Mike Bibby should make the Hawks a better team.

But no offense, I don't think the Hawks can pass the first round, well maybe if you play the Celtics again, maybe they have a chance being the underdogs.

  5. A lot of teams improved in the East, with or without Childress their chances aren't looking good

  6. 20 Million for 3 years ,He should take it in a heart beat.

With the cost of living there and the way of life it would

    be great .

  7. he should take whatever he feels like taking

  8. The Hawks don't have a snowballs chance in h**l of making the playoffs next year with or without Childress.

  9. I think he will take the cash. Hawks will struggle without him, no playoffs.

  10. the hawks won't make the playoffs regardless...

Well you see European teams are all making significant offers to different players from the league in an effort to bring their teams closer to NBA level and they wanna improve their game play so that they can better match-up to the professional basketball world... Like you mensioned these are great for our players but I don't see why everyone's concerned about their teams when a players gets an offer from the outside!

Recent players that moved to overseas include Grizzlies' Juan Carloss Navarro and Our Rapz' Carlos Delfino who signed a contract in Russia... But here's the thing you see NBA teams have way more to offer players than FIBA teams do and all players preferably want to play in this league... So when a team lets one of their players sign elsewhere it's not because they couldn't match the offers or were caught by surprise but it's because they needed that change for whatever reason. The hawks could be looking to open up salary cap space and ultimately look for trades... Or they may open the door for J-Smooth and as of now have the ability to offer him that monsterous contract he was lookin for!

You see even though Childress' move can be negative for Atlanta it can also be positive if they capitalize on it and use their salary cap productively... I think the Hawks are in for much bigger changes this off-season and they definitely need it in order to make the playoffs in the improved East... The management has to look for significant changes if they want to beat the 8th place and there are still dozens of free-agents and players who want to be traded around the league and the Hawks just have to pick their spots. There are also rumors of Josh Howard comin to atlanta in a package that includes J-smooth in return... now I dunno if I agree with such move but my point is that the Hawks still have lots of options to exercise (now with bigger cap space) and if they make the correct decisions they can be headed towards a better record this upcoming season... Consider Childress' new contract the start to all of this...!

    Hope it Helped...!
