Josh Hamilton and the Los Angeles Angels – MLB Feature
It looks like Josh Hamilton will be moving over to the Los Angeles Angels for the 2013 Major League Baseball season with a massive five-year $125 million contract. This move will certainly change the dynamics in the American League West.
Anyone that knows baseball knows of Hamilton and what a great player he is. The Angels are obviously looking to make a positive move towards dominating in the 2013 season with the acquisition of Hamilton. It seems a little unfortunate that the Texas Rangers
were unable to hold onto Hamilton but now it seems he will be given a chance to shine and most importantly get a fresh start.
Over the years Hamilton has battled his personal demons off the field and managed to maintain top form throughout most of his career. Most experts know that Hamilton has made remarkable progress over the years to put his personal life out of the spotlight
and focus on baseball. He is a tremendous player with immense talent as he is capable of turning the tables at anytime for a team during a game.
The Angels seem to have made a very good move by acquiring Hamilton into the line-up. They are now strengthening their depth by adding players like Hamilton. Last offseason, the Angels managed to acquire the heavy hitting Albert Pujols in a mega contract
which showed how serious the team is in trying to make it to the postseason and quite possibly the World Series. However, last season did not go as planned for Angels as they managed to finish third in the American League West with a 89-73 win loss record.
As the Angels have now acquired Hamilton, it looks like the team has now loaded their line-up and is in a much better position than they were last year. Hamilton will add tremendous power and strength in the outfield for the Angels. During the 2012 regular
season, Hamilton managed to hit 43 home runs with 128 RBI’s. He is sitting on a career 161 home runs and 553 RBI’s. It is obvious the Angels know what they want and where Hamilton will provide some support in the squad.
Angels are sitting in the competitive American League West Division which includes teams like the Texas Rangers, Oakland Athletics and Seattle Mariners. Not to mention the inclusion of the Houston Astros this year as they have moved from the National League
into the American League. It is a very interesting mix of teams which will be competing for top honours next years.
As Hamilton moves to the Angels it will be exciting to see the impact that he can make and how well he can adapt to the style of the team. The fans are happy with the move as the Los Angeles Dodgers seemed to have gobbled up the top players that were floating
around in the League. The Angels are sending a clear indication to the Dodgers that they are capable of handling themselves and giving other teams in the League a solid run for the money.
The Angels will be looking to make some inroads during Spring Training this year and hope that Hamilton can stay fit for the long regular season ahead. The 2013 regular season looks like it will be even more exciting as players have moved around and some
teams have become even stronger during the offseason. It will not be a surprise to anyone if Hamilton shines with the Angels as he has tremendous potential and could possibly take the team to new heights.
