Josh Hamilton could test his free agency this winter – MLB Update
Centre fielder Josh Hamilton’s future with the Texas Rangers is still ambiguous as he will be a free agent this winter after his current five-year contract expires in coming months.
Speculations are on the row as Hamilton will be re-signing with the Rangers while some experts also believe that just to know his worth in the Major League; Hamilton could find more reasons to become a free agent.
Rangers, who could not go further into the post season this year, are also delaying the process of giving another potential long term contract to Hamilton despite giving some assurances to Hamilton and his agent.
Currently the Rangers’ top management is busy evaluating the facts and figures which led to their failure this particular season.
From coaching staff to first base and from Michael Young to Hamilton, these all are the main issues which they need to sort out before the next season starts.
"The realities are when a guy goes out and tests the market you get this close you're not going to preempt it, I think he's going to go out there, test the market and then come back to us. No door's been closed,” Neither Daniels, team president recently
explained indirectly in the media and explained in detail about the all developments regarding Hamilton and his future with the franchise.
He added and described further about Hamilton and his potential decision to test his free agency coming off-season, “We're also very realistic about when a star player hits free agency at this point the history of them returning to their original club. I
think we have to prepare both ways and prepare the club for the possibility that he's not back, but we haven't closed any doors."
Hamilton, who is very talented, will be a key player available in the off-season and if he decides to receive offers as a free agent, many big teams will love to have him in their roster.
He finished 2012 Major League Baseball season with .285 hitting average along with 43 homers, 128 RBIs and .354 OBP.
While his five year career .304 hitting average, 161 homers, 553 RBI and .363 OBP also makes a good role player in the MLB.
