Josh Hamilton dissuades questions on health, talks about World Series Game 6
Josh Hamilton was upbeat on Wednesday, October 26, over the upcoming Game 6 encounter in the World Series. As rain delayed the match to Thursday, the 2010 American League Most Valuable Player took questions from the press at Busch Stadium in St. Louis. Nevertheless,
he constrained the reporters from dwelling on his health problems that have affected him in the World Series.
"First person to ask about my health, all the interviews are over. We good? Everybody understand? Don't be the guy that messes it up," Hamilton said.
The player has been facing a left groin strain for well over a month and he made sure that the press would not ponder him over the issue he has been dealing with privately, over the past few weeks. The superstar was more than happy to comment on the current
3 – 2 Rangers lead in the Series over the St. Louis Cardinals. He was particularly pleased over the match delay as rain poured down on the stadium ground.
"It's good mentally," Hamilton said. "You don't have to get worked up, hyped up or get in game mode and then shut it down."
Hamilton has been having a rough World Series, this year, as he is homer-less in the playoffs. He has nine RBIs and six runs to his name in this playoff season and his average hitting rate is .250. His World Series average is just .158. Compared to his American
League Championship Series average of .308, the World Series stats show that the outfielder is struggling to make a strong impact.
He will be facing the Cards’ pitcher Jaime Garcia in Game 6 and he took the time to talk about the strategy he wishes to employ against the superstar. Garcia was impressive in Game 2 when he pitched seven scoreless innings allowed just three hits.
"Any time you see a pitcher more than one time, you kind of figure out what he's going to try to throw to you," Hamilton said. "As the game goes on the first time you face him you try to make adjustments, but he did a good job against us last time."
The Rangers only need one win to lift the World Series title. Hamilton hopes he can deliver that win in Game 6.
