Josh Hamilton meets supporters for Rangers fan fest
Major League Baseball is edging close to the spring season and the fact seems to be spurring on teams scattered across the country to make decisions.
Clubs are making a stretching effort to sign on players from the free agency and the motive is to reinforce team positions on the field.
The move may be seen as an important one but with rosters needing the necessary boost in the system to level the competition, changes need to be made.
However, the situation seems to be different for big clubs. Teams such as the Los Angeles Dodgers, Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers, San Francisco Giants, Chicago White Sox and Texas Rangers have made the necessary adjustments.
They’re more concerned about the fans and the competition lining up ahead. The influence of the spring training is cumulative and that brings forth big expectations from the supporters.
The Texas Rangers have been trying to satisfy their fan expectations through many events outside the ballpark and a recent fan fest event drew in a plethora of fans and some stars from the team.
CEO Chuck Greenberg and Manager, Ron Washington, were present at the event to greet the crowd. One of the top ballplayers also made his appearance as 225 special lottery winners gathered to avail his autographs.
The 2010 American League Most Valuable Player, Josh Hamilton, visited the fan fest to greet his supporters. Arriving 20 minutes late, the mega star answered the call of his fans by signing on various baseball souvenirs, ranging from cards to baseballs.
The proud Rangers’ man was backed by Greenberg in his assistance to address the fans and their expectations for the upcoming the league season.
"The new Fan Fest format provided our fans with a vastly improved entertainment experience and many more interactive options", said Rangers managing partner and CEO Chuck Greenberg.
"Not only was attendance up significantly, but also with an indoor event and increased and improved entertainment options, our fans spent more time at Fan Fest as well. We thank our fans for making Fan Fest a big success."
Fans from different walks of life appeared to greet the slugger. They were supporters with no distinction in age.
"Kids love him because of his home runs and great catches", said Chris Lowe of Arlington. "I don't know if kids know Josh's full history, but that's why the older fans still love him".
