Josh Hamilton nesting groin strain injury in playoffs, playing on in Championship Series
The Texas Rangers took a hard knock on Thursday, October 13, when the club lost its chance to go through to the World Series from the Comerica Park in Detroit in Game 5 of the American League Championship Series against the Detroit Tigers. The club was 3
– 1 in the series but it lost 7 – 5 on Thursday to sustain the tournament lead at 3 – 2. However there was news from one man who has not been hitting well.
Josh Hamilton told reporters that he has been nesting a left groin strain for a long while now and that has affected his performance in the recent days. The left hand player drove in two runs for the club in Game 5 and was instrumental in the field. However
his injury is on his back leg has kept him from driving the ball, whenever he faces a pitcher.
The player emphasized where the problem lies.
"My power side," Hamilton said.
The player confirmed that he has not sustained a new injury as the problem has been there for a while now.
"I've been dealing with it for a month," he said.
The injury could be one of the reasons why Hamilton has not joined Mike Napoli, Adrian Beltre, Ian Kinsler and Nelson Cruz with homers, this postseason. The player told the reporters that he is going to play on and there is nothing he can do about the injury,
at the moment.
"This is the playoffs, and you just have to work through it, deal with it," Hamilton said. "There'll be plenty of time to rest and get it right in the offseason."
The player also took the time out to talk about the game that ended the Rangers chance to qualify for the World Series from Detroit.
"We're still going home with a chance to win it," outfielder Josh Hamilton said. "We would have liked to have finished it off here, but it's good being able to at least take one of three here, considering our history here. It's better than going home down,
3-2."
The Rangers will be looking to end the Championship Series with a win Game 6 when Derek Holland takes the mound for the club again at the Rangers Ballpark in Arlington.
