Josh Hamilton picks up a lot of attention with a recent game winning RBI homer
Josh Hamilton is on a journey to make his fans proud of him as he increased the lead by two when he homered in the latest game on Wednesday, September 21 against the Oakland Athletics with a 3-2 win for the Texas Rangers at Oakland Coliseum.
The outfielder is currently the leading player in the American League to provide his club with a game winning RBI.
The 2010 American League Most Valuable Player was up to the task to provide his team with a 3-2 victory as he smashed Grant Balfour for a home-run in the eighth. The hit however did not go as well as Hamilton would have wanted it to.
"It felt terrible," Hamilton said. "I got jammed. I just happened to have the right bat, my thick-handled bat."
Texas manager Ron Washington had no doubt in the hit, itself. He told the reporters that he did not care if Hamilton said he was jammed. In his opinion, the ball was going out anyways. Hamilton got things going in the eighth when Ian Kinsler kicked off the
inning with his 30th homer of the season. Nevertheless, it is impressive to see the star on 20 game winning RBIs, even after losing six weeks of the season to a fractured shoulder.
"Maybe my focus level goes up," Hamilton said. "I wish I could harness that focus all the time. That's all I can tell you."
The A’s were disappointed at the result as they held the Rangers 2-1 till the eighth inning. Balfour had a few words to say about Hamilton’s hit.
"The one to Hamilton, I thought it was actually a pretty good pitch," Balfour said. "I was trying to go in on him and got it in there and just a good piece of hitting. Guy's a good hitter."
Whatever the case may be, the Rangers now need three wins to go to the playoffs. Texas is having an amazing season and is looking towards winning their next few games to ensure that they make it to the post-season. Having Hamilton on his best form will be
an added bonus.
