Josh Hamilton sparks the Texas Rangers with 4-3 win over the Minnesota Twins—MLB UPDATE
Josh Hamilton came forth with two-run homer in the 8th inning to help the Texas Rangers beat the Minnesota Twins by 4-3. A game monopolized by the pitchers, Hamilton had his timely hit against Glen Perkins to not only improve his own record but
also help the team sweep the three-game series.
There were moments in the game when the Twins seemed all set to score the victory. However, the Rangers put up tremendous fight in the 8th with Hamilton’s homer, and Joe Nathan’s wonderfully pitched 9th inning to seal the victory.
"Just because we won a series doesn't mean we're going to stop on the last day," Ian Kinsler said while commenting on the aggressive posture that the team maintained as a whole throughout the game. "We want to make sure we continue to play good baseball.
Our pitchers did a heck of a job today to keep us in that game and not let it get out of hand and giving our offense a chance."
Josh Hamilton won the praise of the team. The player remained upbeat with complete support from the fellow hitters as the offence sparked for the Texas Rangers at a very appropriate time.
"He's locked in. He's doing everything. He's using all the fields. He's not missing mistakes. He's playing tremendous defense. We certainly needed that big hit he gave us today, and that's what he's been doing for us," manager Ron Washington said.
Texas Rangers’ starter Neftali Feliz gave up 3 runs in his 5 inning spell while Robbie Ross and Mike Adams ensured keeping the Twins’ offence at bay. While the Twins’ defence was unusually good on Sunday, it was Perkins who could not restrain the Texas Rangers
hitters.
He walked Ian Kinsler, allowed a triple to Elvis Andrus followed with a triple and Hamilton hit the huge homer to give the team their ultimate lead in the game.
With the lead secured, it was Nathan who came and pitched a scoreless and hitless 9th to wrap up the game with 4-3 win for the Rangers, helping it sweep the three-game series.
