Josh Howard meets Utah Jazz Officials - NBA Update
Free agency activities have swamped NBA since last Friday.
The importance of elite free agents has magnified as teams planning to strengthen their rosters are running after them. A few new contracts have already been signed and in next few days, lot more changes and new deals are expected
to take place.
One of the coveted players in this year’s free agency is Washington Wizards small forward, Josh Howard.
The 6 ft 7 unrestricted free agent is yet to sign a team and at the moment exploring his options. He has been approached by the Portland Trail Blazers, New Jersey Nets, San Antonio Spurs, Denver Nuggets and the Wizards, however
it looks like he, won’t be selecting any of these teams.
According to a source close to the situation, Josh recently had a long meeting with Utah Jazz management. However, he has not signed a contract with them.
Jazz, which mainly consists of young talent, are looking to add experience and toughness to their team in the shape of players like Howard.  They have already re-signed point guard Earl Watson and adding Howard to the roster is
amongst the top priorities of Jazz at the moment.
Team’s General Manager Kevin O’ Connor confirmed it by saying “We've had serious discussions," when asked about plans of addition of experienced player, however he also added, no official offer has been yet made to Howard.
Howard was selected by Dallas Mavericks in the 2003 NBA draft and had been an integral part of the team for years. He has featured in many Dallas memorable wins and played a key role in team’s reaching the finals in 2006.
The very next year, he finished with a career best average of 19.9 points, but unfortunately his individual brilliance failed to inspire other players as the team failed to reach the next round.
In 2010, he was traded to Washington Wizards but after a few days of trade, got injured and missed rest of the season.
Although he has recovered from the injury now, but would need to work out hard in the practice sessions to give a performance he is known for over the years. In a week’s period, he will be signing a contract with an NBA team and
probably, it will be Jazz, however if he doesn’t, it will be interesting which teams he opts for.
