Josh Johnson and John Buck react to recent trade – MLB Update
Toronto Blue Jays’ newly acquired Major Leaguers, Josh Johnson and John Buck are making noise these days with their stance on Blue Jays and Miami Marlins recent blockbuster trade.
Both last played for the Marlins, however, now they will start their new beginning with the Blue Jays.
“I was hoping I’d go at least until about the All-Star break, and then the trade rumours would start going, I was hoping for one more shot at making something happen down there in Miami, but that’s just how the business goes, and now I’m really excited to move on,” Johnson said as he explained in detail.
Later he explained, referring to Emilio Bonifacio, “I could see trading me, and Buck, maybe even Boni, I was really confused by the Reyes and Buehrle trades., we’ll have a really good team up there, but that was kind of confusing, especially after them saying that they were going to be the for the long-term.”
Johnson finished the past season with 3.81 ERA along with 8-14 win-loss, 165 strike-outs and 1.28 WHIP.
He was playing with the Marlins since 2005 and possesses a career 3.15 ERA 56-37 win-loss, 832 strike-outs and 1.23 WHIP.
On the other hand, catcher was also playing well in the Marlins. He finished the past season with .192 hitting average along with 12 homers, 41 RBIs and .297 OBP.
Coming onto both players recent comments in the media about the trade, this is certain that they are not happy on the way things happened.
In the mega trade, the Marlins sent some of the best players to Toronto Blue Jays. Along with John Buck and Josh Johnson, the Marlins also traded starter Mark Buehrle.
After the trade, several controversies also followed and Major League Baseball had to review the deal.
Though later the baseball commissioner Bud Selig approved this deal, but still many say that it was one of the biggest and controversial deals in the Major League.
With Blue Jays receiving most of the top players, the Marlins however remain optimistic about the future of their chances in the league.
