Josh Koscheck becomes replacement opponent for Carlos Condit at UFC 143 – MMA News
The Welterweight bout at UFC 143 hosted by the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has been scheduled between Josh Koscheck and Carlos Condit. The event will take place on February 4, 2012 in Las Vegas at Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Once St-Pierre was out of the UFC due to a knee injury, the spot remained vacated. It was only after Koscheck gave his challenge to Condit, which he accepted readily.  Koscheck, who made his successful UFC debut in April 2099 against
Martin Kampmann at UFC Fight Night, will be a tough opponent for Condit. The 33-year old Koscheck has been a difficult fighter for all of his opponents. Since 2006, Koscheck has never lost any fight through a submission. This means that Condit would have to
make his way through Koscheck with his knock out strategy.
Condit won the UFC Welterweight Championship in December 2010 at UFC 124 when he defeated Georges St-Pierre. He will be hopeful to win by a submission over Koscheck and make history.
On the other hand, Koscheck would try to impose his dominance with his in-ring athleticism and wrestling abilities. Condit has won 27 fights in his mixed martial arts (MMA) career while he has lost 5. None of his fights were ended
in a draw. Standing in at 6ft 2in, Condit will be using his submission techniques on Koscheck for he has a great amount of expertise in this fighting style.
On the other hand, Koscheck, who stand in at 5ft 10in, would be the one who could feel intimidated while facing Condit. The former might have some tough time in his fight but keeping in mind his number one contender spot in the
UFC, he would not consider losing an option for his integrity would be at stakes.
Condit is on a winning streak since September 2009. He won the fight at UFC Fight Night against Jake Ellenberger. In June 2010 he beat Rory MacDonald at UFC 115 followed by a victory at UFC 120 against Dan Hardy. His fourth consecutive
win was at UFC 132 in July 2011 where he won through a technical knockout over Dong Hyun Kim.
UFC 143 will be an exciting fight as Condit would be eager to beat Koscheck though the latter would not go down easily for he is the heaviest contender at the moment for the welterweight title.
