Josh Koscheck might face Mike Pierce at UFC 143 – UFC News
At times the mixed martial (MMA) fighters are unable to get an opponent for their future fights. The same is the case with American MMA fighter Josh Koscheck. He has been without an opponent when the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) hosts UFC 143 next year.
According to some reports, compatriot MMA fighter, Mike Pierce has given an indication that he would like to be at UFC 143.
It has been heard in the UFC and MMA community that Pierce would enter the UFC octagon ring with Koscheck. Normally, when a fighter gives an invitation to his opponent, then it is verbally agreed upon and the UFC then officially declares the bout to be held
in the future. Initially, Koscheck was set to face Carlos Condit at UFC 143. But after Condit faced an injury while fighting against Georges St-Pierre, it was settled that Koscheck would have to find another opponent. The UFC 143 is scheduled to take place
on February 4, 2012 in Las Vegas at the Mandalay Bay Events Center.
Koscheck, the 34-year-old MMA fighter has been a UFC fighter since 2005. He made his successful UFC debut in April 2005 against Chris Sanford at The Ultimate Fighter 1 Finale. For him, fighting at UFC one more time would be no problem, for he has now become
a veteran in the UFC circuit. On the other hand, Pierce, made his successful UFC debut in September 2009 against Brock Larson at UFC Fight Night event.
For Koscheck, he has contested in nineteen UFC fights while Pierce has only been part of UFC bouts seven times. This huge difference in bouts will give Koscheck an obvious upper hand, if he faces Pierce at UFC 143. Koscheck has won fourteen of his bouts at
UFC while lost five. On the other hand, Pierce has won only five UFC bouts and lost two.
For Koscheck, the main objective at the moment would be to find an opponent, which could be Pierce himself. It should also be noted that the UFC officials have not given any sort of news that the bout would take place, however,
speculations are that it might be Piece going against Koscheck at UFC 143.
