Josh Koscheck would leave MMA but will not fight against his good friend Jon Fitch – UFC News
Friendship holds no boundaries, as any two people can become friends and remain so for years. The world of mixed martial arts (MMA) is no different. Fighters do fight each other in the octagonal ring and they do it with all the
aggression they can muster in their heart. They throw punches, strike with their kicks, break each other’s noses and restructure their facial bones.
Brutality reigns supreme in such fights and especially inside the octagon cage of the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) and in the MMA division. Even in such hostile and cruel situations, where people are paid for making their
opponent a bloody mess, friendships are made and fighters do have a soft spot for their real life friends.
Such kind of a situation has recently been surfaced where two great fighters and friends outside the UFC ring are reluctant to go against each other if they are asked to. Josh Koscheck and Jon Fitch are not in the mood to fight
each other if their match is ever set up on the cards. From time to time, the two fighters have shown their inclination to not undergo a fight against each other in the ring.
While talking to the media, Koscheck said, “Me and Jon Fitch have been training together for eight years now. You guys really want to see us fight – Monday, Wednesday, Friday – come to AKA in San Jose (Calif.). You guys can stand
up there, you can watch us fight, and it will be for free. You don’t have to pay $54 for it.”
Koscheck, who lost the UFC Welterweight Championship against Georges St-Pierre at UFC 124 in December 2010, also went to the lengths of saying that he would consider leaving the MMA an option than to face Fitch in the ring. Koscheck
said “No chance (we will fight). It’s not worth it to me. I would rather step away from the sport than fight Jon Fitch.”
The two fighters have been in the world of MMA for years. They have trained together and travelled to places wherever the MMA or UFC has taken them to. They are fighters but in their real life, they are closer than friends; they
are brothers who share MMA as their common passion and live it every day. But when it comes to becoming competitors, they will not accept it at any cost.
