Joshua Carlson and Jenni King win Australian Mountain Bike National Series – Perth 2011

Joshua Carlson displayed a tremendous performance in Super D and won the Australian Mountain Bike National Series-Perth 2011 on November 20. Carlson was the fastest rider in the elite men’s category, with timing of 3 minutes and 56.21 seconds.
Only a few cyclists have international experience in the Super D format. However, local cyclist, Dave Nairn claimed the runner-up’s spot, with 11.03 seconds down to Joshua.
Andrew Fellows finished third with a difference of 13.87 seconds, ahead of Andrew Blair and Nick Both.
In the women’s category, Jenni King put up a good show in Super D, although she “had no idea what Super D was” until Saturday. She secured her win with a timing of 4 minutes and 38.20 seconds.
Rosemary Barnes was in the second place, 14.96 seconds down to King. Jodie Willett was also in a good form but she landed in the third place, 19.62 seconds adrift.
Jack Haig took the Under 23 title with a timing of 4:4.96, whereas Cameron Ivory was in second place, ahead of Mitchell Codner and Robbie Rhodes.
After a tough weekend of racing, Andrew Blair finally secured a victory by taking the All Mountain Cup. He topped the final Omnium standing with a timing of 1 hour, 47 minutes and 35.12 seconds. Sid Taberlay was in the second place, ahead of Joshua Carlson.
Blair told the media, "I was relieved to take the overall victory. The super D and eliminator were short but potentially dangerous disciplines”.
He added, “I was happy to make it into the final of the eliminator, it was a good way to not just be completely conservative and get out there and have some fun racing".
Jenni King also took the Omnium standing with 1:46:37.95 while Jodie Willett was the runner-up with a difference of 4 minutes and 36.51 seconds, ahead of Jenny Fay and Rosemary Barnes.
Luke Fetch displayed a good effort and took the overall Under 23 Omnium standing with a timing of 1 hour, 32 minutes and 1.06 seconds. Mitchell Codner finished second, ahead of Michael Crosbie.
The next series of the All Mountain Cup will start at Mt Buller on January 21-22, 2012. It will be interesting to see who will win the next trophy.
