Josselin Ouanna and Clement Reix clear the second qualifying round – Moselle Challenger 2012
Josselin Ouanna prevails over Alexandre Penaud 6-2, 6-2
Ranked 128th in the ATP World Tour Rankings, Josselin Ouanna, crushed his compatriot, Alexandre Penaud, in the second qualifying round of the Moselle Open held in France. Ouanna enclosed his 6-2, 6-2
win on Sunday.
The local duo contested each other for the first time on the hard courts of the country. The 25-year-old, Penaud originated the opener and successfully held his initial serve. He very confidently drew the first
blood in the series but Ouanna evened out the score line to 2-all in the fourth game. After that point, it was difficult for him to defend his lead, as his opponent busted his serve in the very next game. Towards the end, Penaud lost all his thrust and lost
the set with a 6-2 score.
In the final set, both players seized their initial serves but the 26-year-old, secured the lead by breaking Penaud’s serve in the fifth game. Ouanna nudged past his rival and closed the match with a 6-2 win.
Ouanna cracked five aces on his rival but demonstrated 47 percent initial serve precision, capitalizing on 23 of 25 first and 14 of 28 second serve points. On the contrary, Penaud had a high first serve accuracy
of 64 percent, but simply secured 32 of 48 first and seven of 27 second delivery points in the match.
Dustin Brown rally past Clement Reix 4-6, 6-3, 7-5
World number 142nd, Dustin Brown received a shocker at the hands of the local challenger, Clement Reix in the second qualifier of the Moselle Open. The local contender summed up his 4-6, 6-3, 7-5 win
at his home soil on the eve of Sunday.
The 28-year-old commenced the starter and effectively secured the supremacy in the contest. He broke the German professional’s lead in the fourth game. However, the score line oscillated and evened out to 3-all
by the end of the sixth game. Brown speedily nudged ahead and broke Reix serve in the very next game, stamping the set with a 6-4 lead.
For the initial part of the second set, 27-year-old German lost his form but laboured hard to take over the game, like before. Reix stole the break and towered the score line with his 4-2 lead by the end of the
sixth game. He smoothly progressed in the set and ultimately wrapped it up with a 6-3 score.
Unlike before, the decider was a tough challenge as both players tried their best to dominate. The higher ranked German professional levelled the scores line four times but toward the end, he lost his strength
and the right-hander Frenchman busted his serve and concluded the match with his 7-5 win.
