I am a freshman in highschool and I really like to write and I love magazines. When i grow up i think i want to do something with a magazine. I'm not very confident in my writing but I think i would love to work with a magazine. I'm not sure what else you can do with it without being a journalist or owning your own magazine company. So i want your help for a job title, for what else I can do with a magazine. A lot of help appreciated. ;-)

  1. Magazines are complicated to produce and need many different types of people to make the product complete.

All magazines need photographers to take pictures for the stories and graphic designers to add art. Those would be good if you are into art.

Or if you like writing, but don't like doing it yourself, you could try editing other people's work. Being an editor is very involved with the story without the pressure of actually writing it. You need good grammar skills though.

Good Luck in your hunt for a job.

  2. Tom's right. But don't forget about all the design and layout editors... They're the ones that decide how the magazine is going to appear in print. They typically do this with computer programs such as Adobe, QuarkXpress, etc. Good luck. :)
