Journalistic likely to finish first in Maiden Stakes
Journalistic intends to break his maiden by winning the Ann Clark Maiden Stakes at Folkestone racecourse on Thursday, April 12.
The Marcus Tregoning-trained bay colt has been undergoing hard training since his last outing on September 28, 2011. The trainer strongly believes that his pupil will be able to get a breakthrough today.
Journalistic’s competitors include Curzon Line, Philipstown, Van Ellis, Choice Words, Divine Pamina, Art Form, Georgie Girl and Bright Girl.
The Class 5 contest over a distance of 7 furlongs is scheduled to commence at 3:55 (GMT). Containing big prize money worth £2,386, the race is going to be a mammoth challenge for the young colt who has just four starts to his name.
The three-year-old novice runner started his career on July 4, 2011. After grabbing 11th spot against 15 rivals in his maiden race, the talented colt moved forward to finish 7th in the very next venture.
Each in his two back-to-back outings during September 2011, Journalistic fabulously clinched a runner-up rank, earning high odds in the betting market.
Now, Journalistic is awash with winning momentum which will definitely lend a great hand to him in the coming competition. The hot favourite colt’s chances to finish first are as high as 90 percent.
Out of the other runners, Curzon Line and Philipstown are likely to challenge Journalistic’s favourite position on the track.
Curzon Line has also run for four times so far since making his debut on September 8, 2011. The Mahmood Al Zarooni-trained bay colt excellently gained a runner-up position in his second last start on October 12, 2011. He went on to finish 5th
in his last outing on October 26.
On the other hand, Philipstown clinched 4th position each in the last two races of his career during September-October 2011. Overall, the Richard Hannon-trained gelding has 5 starts to his credit.
The situation is quite complicated at the moment. Each one of Journalistic, Curzon Line and Philipstown owns enough talent. The competition will be quite close. Let us see who gains what. Good luck to all the runners.
