Journalists/ reporters: How to you survive on the little pay??

Question

I just graduated with a BA in print journalism and I'm scared to apply for a job as a reporter considering the $20,000 salary that goes along with the job title. How do you get by?

Always check out the place you're considering moving to and look at that place's cost of living. I had a professor who said she was offered a job in L.A. with a six-figure income. Well... that only takes you so far. Just do your research. J-major, you already know how to do that. ;)
