Joyful Victory ready for a re-match with Brushed by a Star says Larry Jones
Eddie Kenneally trained 4-year-old filly, Brushed by a Star, on 3 November, 2012, engaged herself in a thrilling stretch battle with the grade 2 winner, Joyful Victory, to prevail by a head to land the one mile long Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes at Churchill Downs
with the winning time of 1 minute and 37.16 second.
Just after three weeks, the two 4-year-old fillies will go at each other once more, this time in the Grade 2, $150,000 Falls City Handicap also at Churchill Downs on 22 November, 2012.
The Chilukki Stakes was run over a distance of 1 mile, and this time in the Falls City Handicap the fillies will run over a distance of 1 1/8 miles, and the two turn race has reeled in seven fillies and mare, among which, Brushed by a Star will carry topweight
of 122 pounds, three pounds more than Joyful Victory.
Bred in Kentucky by Desmond Ryan, Brushed by a Star after winning the Chilukki Stakes for owner Team Foster and trainer Grant Foster, the 4-year-old filly by Eddington got sold for $400,000 at the Fasig-Tipton Kentucky November Sale on 5 November, and will
run under the banner of Unlimited Equine’s Tom Berry and new trainer Eddie Kenneally in the Falls City Handicap.
"She came to us very good," Kenneally said. "She's sound and healthy. We'll try not to change anything. She just won a grade II. They did a fine job with her."
On the other hand, Fox Hill Farms’ Joyful Victory has run second for three consecutive times, and a victory is due, which will probably come in the Falls City Handicap for trainer Larry Jones.
Joyful Victory, has not finished worse than third the entire season, which consists of 6  races, and her recent string of runner-up finishes were in the Grade 3 Gardenia Stakes, Grade 1 Zenyatta Stakes, and the Grade 2 Chilukki Stakes.
"We'll have to see if (Brushed by a Star) improves first time in a new home because sometimes they do that, but maybe Grant had the key to her," Jones said. "We'll see, but our horse is good and we're ready."
