Hi I did the open water diver course in the summer 07 when i was 14 yrs old. Once i got home I didn't send the form off straight away to get my certification card. I turned 15 in January and have just sent away the form. I got my card delivered today and it says Jr. Open Water Diver. Now Im 15 should this be upgraded to a full Open Water Diver, or will i have to do another course to get upgraded? Thanks in advance

  1. If it's PADI, just submit the form for replacing your C-card.  You won't need another course to remove the "Jr." from the card.  Yes, you'll have to pay to replace the card!

You can download the pdf file for the form off the PADI website.

  2. You won't need to do another course but you ought to upgrade that card just for convenience sake. Most dive shops or charter outfits, will recognize you as a full OW if you have proof of age with you ( birth certificate for example) as well as that Jr. OW card. So, until you upgrade that C card, you'll need that proof of age with you.

To upgrade it, you can either visit your dive shop or do it online here: http://www.padi.com/padi/en/kd/c-card/de...

It may cost a few bucks, it may not if you do it NOW. They don't charge for a replacement if your Jr Cert is less than a year old from the date they receive your application for the full OW. If you wait longer than a year, the cost will be 30 bucks.
